Textile Tuesday – Romantic Textiles

As we have previously stated this month romance doesn’t have to be all frills, flowers, or anything girly.  You can definitely lend a masculine feel to a romantic space so everyone feels comfortable in a room.  One way to do this is to choose romantic fabrics that are not your standard floral prints.  Below are our picks to add some romance to your space via textiles.

1.)    The first company we love is Eijffinger.  This company was founded in 1875 and has survived a lot over the last 135 years.  They began with distribution in Holland and are now available in more than 90 countries.  We picked 6 of their textiles as some of our favorites for a more modern, less frilly take on romance.  We love the mix of heavier fabrics with the sheers and the luxurious feeling they all have.  Luxury breathes romance into a room.  We love the following collections: Isis, Toulouse, Paris, Vienna, and Chakra

2.)    Another trend we are noticing in textiles is script fabrics with beautiful writing on them.  We are seeing this in many different scales from large to very small writing as well.  We found a couple examples on the Spoonflower site.  The first is a smaller scale script called I thought I’d Write to Juliet… blue from peacoquettedesigns and the second is entitled Edgar Allen Poe – Alone – Poem in blood red on parchment from the same designer.  These two show the difference in scale of the letters.  However, we were thinking if you are design savvy yourself you could greatly up the romance factor of these fabrics.  Compose your own love letter and have it printed as a fabric for use on accents in a master bedroom.  Nothing is more romantic or personal than a custom printed love letter.  It would be a great way to inject added romance to a private space.

3.)    The last company we love is Casamance.  This French company has the perfect mix of designs, texture and color that make each of their collections pop.  We love the following textiles:

Casamance - Lido 2 is a favorite for its rich velvet look and we love the massive array of colors it comes in!

Casamance - Bellerose in Louisiane Parme-Bleu/Gris. We love this 100% silf fabric with Viscose embroidery. we feel this is a more modern and luxurious way to add in a floral textile pattern without being too frilly or "girly" feeling.

Casamance Marne Sheer is a Cotton, Acrylic and silk blend. We are suckers for a polka dot pattern and we feel the luxurious feeling that Casamance has brought to this textile has made it so a "polka-dot" can be romantic too.

Casamance Sloane Street Blanc is a textile we fell in love with the moment we saw it. This is a Cotton and Silk blend with a gorgeous damask pattern on it. We feel this fabric is a great way to add sublte pattern to the space while still being on the more traditional side of romantic, but still without introducing a floral textile.

Pick and choose your favorites or just use our favorites as inspiration for your space, but make sure to keep a little bit of romance going all year round.
